The Witney Town Charity provides almshouse accommodation for people who are in need and who have a strong connection to the local area. Residents live independently in a friendly and supportive setting, where there is a sense of community and neighbourliness.

If you are interested in becoming a resident, the first step is to contact the charity office. We will provide you with information about eligibility and current availability. You will then be invited to complete an application form. This asks for details of your personal circumstances, your current housing situation and your connection to Witney.

Applications are considered by the Trustees of the charity. The Trustees look at each application individually and with care. They consider need, local connection and whether almshouse living would be suitable and beneficial for you. If a vacancy is available and your application is successful, you will be offered a home subject to a meeting and routine checks.

Living in an almshouse is different from renting privately. Residents pay a weekly maintenance contribution to cover the cost of maintaining the property and shared services. The accommodation is provided as part of the charity’s aim to support those in need, rather than as a commercial tenancy.

If you would like to discuss applying or would like help completing the application form, please contact the Clerk to the Trustees at:
