Church Green

The first almshouses at Church Green were recorded in sixteen fifty two as housing for people in need. The buildings were rebuilt in the seventeen nineties and later rented out, with the income being used to help people experiencing hardship.

Newland

The almshouses at Newland were built in eighteen thirty two by William Townsend. They were created to provide homes for six poor widows from the local community

Station Lane

The almshouses at Station Lane were bequeathed by Jon Holloway to house widows of clothiers or blanket makers. They were rebuilt in eighteen sixty eight.
